Abebech Gobena Charity celebrated the graduation of 152 women from its Women’s Empowerment Through Skills Training Center, marking the 40th round of its ongoing initiative to support vulnerable women across Ethiopia.

The six-month program provides practical training in food preparation, catering, and childcare, alongside essential courses in reproductive health; hygiene and sanitation; HIV/AIDS prevention; life skills; basic business planning; fire safety; and legal literacy.

This integrated approach equips participants with both vocational competence and the confidence to pursue sustainable livelihoods.

The graduation ceremony was held in the presence of distinguished guests, including Mr. Getachew Zewdu, Ethiopia Country Director of Stiftung Menschen für Menschen Schweiz; Dr. Martin Grunder, Projects Coordinator of Stiftung Menschen für Menschen Schweiz; Mr. Alemu Girma, Chairman of the Board of Abebech Gobena Charity; Mr. Eshetu Aredo, Executive Director of Abebech Gobena Charity; Mr. Damtew Gebru, Chairman of the General Assembly of Abebech Gobena Charity; and other notable representatives from governmental and non-governmental organizations.

On this occasion, as usual, Enat Bank, which named one of its branches after our philanthropic mother, Abebech Gobena, provided appreciation awards to high-scoring students who ranked from 1st to 3rd place.

Established in 2002, the Women’s Empowerment Through Skills Training Center has benefited 4,017 women to date. The program targets women aged 18–35 who face challenging socioeconomic conditions, enabling them to build self-reliance and improve their families’ well-being.

With the continued partnership support of Stiftung Menschen für Menschen Schweiz, the initiative remains a vital pathway to economic empowerment and social transformation.
